Subject Activity (World Animal Welfare Day,Oct 4 ,2024)
October 4th is celebrated as World Animal Welfare Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the welfare of animals and promoting their protection globally. As a biology teacher trainee, I conducted an awareness session for the 10th students during my teaching practice. The purpose of this activity was to educate students on the importance of animal welfare and instill a sense of responsibility toward the ethical treatment of animals.
The activity involved showing the class a short, informative video that highlighted key issues related to animal welfare, such as the mistreatment of animals, the need for conservation, and the importance of ethical farming practices. After the video, I facilitated a discussion with the students, asking them to share their thoughts on what they had seen and encouraging them to think critically about how human actions impact animals.
The students were highly engaged throughout the activity. Many of them raised insightful questions about how animals are treated in different industries, and they expressed a genuine interest in learning how they could make a difference.
I believe the session successfully raised awareness among the students about the ethical treatment of animals and their role in protecting animal rights. It is crucial to teach students not only the scientific concepts but also the moral and environmental responsibilities we hold as humans.
