Innovative Work: Parts of Flower
TOPIC: PARTS OF FLOWER
AIM
The primary aim was to develop a novel and creative innovative work for the effective transaction of the content "Parts of a Flower" from the unit "For the Continuity of Generations" in Standard 8th. The teacher trainee prepared a longitudinal section (L.S.) model of a flower and a riddles box to make the learning process more interactive and visually appealing.
OBJECTIVES
- To prepare a novel and creative teaching aid for the easy and effective transaction of the content "Parts of a Flower."
- To develop an L.S. model of a flower as an innovative tool to visually explain its internal structure.
- To enhance student engagement and foster active learning through the use of a riddle box that helps in identifying and recalling floral parts and functions.
PREPARATION
The L.S. model of a flower was created using the following materials:
Color papers (to represent different floral parts), Double-sided tape, Chart paper, Cardboard (for structural support), Glue and cello tape.
- A sturdy cardboard and thermocol was used as the base for the model.
- Sepals were made using green color paper and attached at the base.
- Petals were crafted using bright color papers and arranged around the center.
- Androecium (stamens) was represented using thin strips of yellow and brown paper to depict anthers and filaments.
- Gynoecium (pistil) was prepared using a rolled paper tube to represent the ovary, style, and stigma.
- All parts were carefully arranged and fixed on the cardboard using glue and double-sided tape to ensure a neat and durable structure.
Preparation of the Riddle box:
- Paper was joined together to form a long sheet.
- Sheets were folder to form a box.
- Riddles were written on color papers and pasted inside the paper.
