1st and 2nd Week Teaching practice: September 25 – October 4
My teaching practice began on September 25th, and in the first two weeks, I engaged with students in 8th, 9th, and 10th classes. These weeks were eventful, with cultural and social activities such as the school’s Kalolsavam and a cleanliness campaign for Gandhi Jayanti. Along with my regular lessons, I was assigned to teach the 10th grade temporarily as the regular teacher was on leave.
- October 2: Cleanliness Campaign (Gandhi Jayanti) As part of Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, the school organized a cleanliness campaign, and students participated enthusiastically in cleaning the school campus.
- 8th Standard: Chapter – "Let's Regain Our Field". Introduced the chapter by discussing agricultural practices and used interactive board to explain key concepts visually.
- 9th Standard: Chapter – "Respiration and Excretion". To make the lesson more interactive, I showed the students experiments related to respiration and displayed a model of the human respiratory system and diaphragm. This helped them visualize the biological processes in a more concrete way.
Other Activities:
- Assembly organized in the school where prayer, pledge, thought and news are read by students.
- Subject association activity: World Animal Welfare Day: On Oct 24, I conducted an awareness activity in the 10th class for World Animal Welfare Day. I showed a video that addressed various issues related to animal welfare, conservation, and ethical farming practices. After the video, I facilitated a discussion with the students.
Challenges and Reflections:
One challenge I faced was adapting quickly to taking over the 10th class on short notice. However, I managed to integrate smoothly and ensure that the students were not left behind in their lessons. The interactive board and visual tools proved to be very effective in maintaining student engagement across the grades.
